We are increasing our action in response to issues such as those raised in Denise Mack's letter about the litter she sees on her travels to Woolwich (Letters, April 23).
That is why we are extending Cleansweep the Council's new one call does it all' service which brings all our cleansing services under a single management.
To deal with her specific concerns, the Westhorne Avenue/Rancliffe Gardens walkway is swept once a week on a Friday. That will continue with Cleansweep, as it should with the Old Well Hall Coronet Cinema. Meanwhile, we will arrange for a deep' clean of them and they will be kept under review.
The roadside flowerbeds between Well Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hospital will be inspected and cleared, with a more regular programme put in place.
The QE Hospital car park is run by Greenwich Health Care Trust, which is responsible for it. Council officers have drawn their attention to Ms Mack's comments.
Many of the complaints I receive from people such as Ms Mack's turn out, on investigation, to be on private property.
That's why we need to establish a prevention' culture and reduce the extra work and cost burden on everyone.
Cllr Angela Cornforth,
Greenwich Council cabinet member for public services
