A NEW sensory room designed to calm or stimulate sick children has just been opened at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup.
The room has been paid for through the fundraising efforts of a local school, a business and a club. The boys from Kemnal Technology College, Sidcup, members of Chelsfield Lakes Golf Club and Kevin Woodall and his work colleagues from Allfloors all contributed to the cost of setting up the room and the boys from the school were there for its official opening.
The room's equipment already includes an illuminated bubble tube, a projector, a revolving reflector ball, string lights, beanbags, ultra-violet lighting, vibrating rods and balls.
Healthcare assistant Theresa Wilkinson, who has worked with children in sensory rooms, helped to choose the equipment and staff on Whiteoak children's ward helped to redecorate a former cubical to create the new room.
