BUDDING film stars from Bishop's Stortford got the chance to make and star in their own soap opera when they took part in a video project run by local theatre company Snap.

The 12 to 18-year-olds saw their work on the big screen when they attended a showcase at the Cineworld cinema.

The project gave the children the chance to work with professionals to create, shoot, perform in, and edit a film about local life, as well as develop their skills using new digital technology.

The films, produced in a soap opera style, explored youth culture and issues that affect young people.

A Snap spokesman said: "Soap opera is a genre that appeals to young people. The projects gave those taking part a great chance to learn new skills and have a lot of fun too."

Snap hopes to set up a regular video club for youngsters interested in learning more about film making. For more details, ring 01279 461607 or email info@snaptheatre.co.uk.
