JUST seven children are still waiting for a secondary school place in Bromley ending months of worry for parents.

The number of children looking for a place had reached a five-year high of 3,633 this year.

But only seven children are searching for places this week and Bromley Council claims they are "very particular cases" who should have a place by the end of term.

Staff have already started working on plans for next year's transfer, when numbers are expected to be even higher.

Head of access and admissions Robin Bosher said: "Staff have worked night and day to achieve this. I'm very pleased for the children. I want them to know where they are going and be able to go to open days.

"Work has already started on identifying who will need a place next year and where they are."
