Dorking 28 Barnes 50

After a slow start Barnes showed their class and ran home eight tries against Dorking with seven different players marking their name on the scoresheet.

Dorking were the first to score with a penalty after just four minutes and this stunned Barnes into action as they decided to run a penalty instead of kicking, and quick ball gave David Leigh the opportunity to score the try.

This sequence was repeated 12 minutes after the start when Dorking kicked another penalty and Barnes immediately responded with a try from scrum-half Dan McKinnon.

Russell again converted, but Barnes gave away a penalty for not staying on their feet from the restart to make the score 14-9.

On thirty minutes flanker Buster White forced his way over for the first of his two tries before Dorking hit back with a try of their own.

But once again Barnes replied immediately with an excellent but unconverted running try by their wing Ben Jacob, leaving the score going into the interval 26-16.

Barnes started the second half better than they did the first with two quality tries derived from well-recycled possession for 2nd row Max Paterson and no. 8 Toby Rakison.

Dorking were impressive in the lineout and worked quick ball out wide which created an unconverted score.

Soon Buster White picked up a try before Barnes conceded a penalty try.

However, it was not long before Barnes made their way back up the field for scrum-half Charlie Leslie to take the points tally to the fifty mark.

Barnes will be returning to action on January 4th for a home fixture against Jersey (2.15pm).
