A WARTIME hero will be remembered at a garden party in Bromley next Saturday. The annual St Cecilia's Cheshire Home party takes place at 32 Sundridge Avenue on June 20 and marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Leonard Cheshire Foundation. The organisation is named after the late wartime hero who became leader of the Dambusters RAF squadron. After leaving the RAF, Cheshire devoted his life to the foundation, providing homes and opportunities for physically handicapped people and people with learning difficulties in London and Kent.

Bromley resident Chris Greener - the UK's tallest man at 7ft 6 - will open the event which will also see a display of maypole dancing by 100 children.
