Biggin Hill Airport's expansion plans could be under threat after competitor London City Airport was given permission to double its flights. Newham Council allowed London City to increase its flights on June 2 -- before the release of a study on the decision's implications on air space at London Biggin Hill is expected soon.
Chairman of Biggin Hill Airport Andrew Walters said: "We are very comfortable about operating in competition with London City - as long as both airports are allowed the airspace they need to grow."
A spokesman for London City Airport said: "The decision by Newham Council to allow us to increase our capabilities will not affect air space over Biggin Hill."
