TWO post office staff were tied up by robbers who stole thousands of pounds from the Chapel Hill post office in Stansted on Monday evening.
The raiders, who police say got away with a "five-figure sum", went into the sorting area at 5.30pm and pushed a man and woman to the floor. They then bound their ankles and wrists.
One of the robbers is described as white, in his late 40s to early 50s with short grey hair, short and of stocky build with stubble and wearing a navy blue, orange and white top. The other man was taller, slim and possibly with dark wavy hair. Police say their clothing resembled Post Office uniform.
A Post Office bicycle was found in the vicinity of St John's Road.
Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time should ring Detective Constable Rob Dicks at Saffron Walden police station on 01279 513232.
