I live on London Road, Shenley, this week I and the rest put out our bins on Tuesday evening ready for emptying at 6am to 7am Wednesday morning.

On going out at 8.15am to work my bin and one or two others had not been emptied.

Someone had added a couple of bags during the evening before.

On ringing the refuse office I was told my bin would not be cleared unless the lid was fully down. I was told to take it to the tip, I respectfully asked if the lad thought I would be allowed on the bus with my wheelie bin, how am I as an older person supposed to sort this out.

I was told my local councillor had instructed the refuse people that bins were not to be emptied if the lid was not fully on.

Surely this is a health hazard as my bin and others are still lying out in London Road.

This makes for a very untidy road with unemptied bins everywhere.

Am I supposed to sit and guard it all night to make sure no one puts anything extra in it?

I live next to a pub car park, anyone could put a bag in, or do I have to get up at 5am and sit with my bin until it is emptied?

I pay a high enough Council Tax and we have very few amenities in this village as it is.
