AFTER a summer of trophies, St Albans archer Adrian DiPaola was brought back to earth in the World and European Field Archery Championships in Scotland last week, when a final-day blunder cost him a World bronze medal and European silver.
A bronze in the European table was his lot after he virtually forfeited a round by firing at the wrong target that he hit it will have only made it more galling.
"It's one of those silly mistakes that happen now and then, and it's cost me a couple of medals. I feel like I've let everyone down."
DiPaola was on course for a silver (World) and gold (European) at the start of the day, but the error shook his concentration and consequently the national champion in this discipline tailed off.
He has a chance to return to winners circle at the end of the month, when he bids to win the National Bowhunter Championships for the third consecutive time in Lancarshire.
