December 4, 2000 19:40: Maybe Crystal Palace could do with some divine intervention (Holy fan favours struggling team, Newshopper, November 15) but supporter Gordon Law has seriously underestimated Christs potential because Palaces story actually reflects the Bible.
In the beginning there was a great football club, but through one mans involvement everything went wrong and all the supporters, players and employees suffered the consequences.
Similarly in the beginning God created a perfect world but through one man (Adam) sin entered creation and as a result we all live with the consequences of death and suffering.
Ideally Crystal Palace needs someone who will pay off its financial debts and lead it back to the top of the premiership.
Christians believe this person to be Jesus Christ: through his death and resurrection he pays the price of everyones sin, so that one day the world will be made perfect when everything is returned to his control.
The cross doesnt just make Jesus the best winger, it also makes him the best manager and coach ever.
