December 5, 2000 10:24: Nearly 200 pupils from a Beckenham school took part in a career day competition involving local business.
Kelsey Park Boys School teamed up with Prospect Career Services to produce a competition for the schools Year Seven pupils. They spilt into groups of six and were asked to produce a business idea and present it to the judges, picked from local business.
The winner of the competition was youth club, Fantasy House, which was judged by representatives of Churchill Theatre and Beckenham Spa Leisure Centre.
The idea was to improve the childrens communication and team effort skills, said Prospect Career Services career advisor Caroline Jackson. It was a great success.
The children produced some very good business ideas and presented them really well.
