Police are investigating a burglary at Sopwell House Hotel after a substantial amount of cash and jewellery was stolen from the rooms of international football stars.
Ajax football squad were staying in the St Albans hotel in Cottonmill Lane before their Champions League match against Arsenal last Tuesday, February 18.
The match at Highbury ended in a 1-1 draw.
A large amount of cash, Rolex watches and glasses were stolen from a number of the Dutch players and coaching staff rooms between 5.30pm on Sunday, February 16, and 9.20pm on Monday, February 17.
Scene of crime officers carried out a forensic examination of the venue, which has housed numerous football teams on their way to Cup Final glory.
Sopwell House's marketing and press manager was unavailable for comment.
