London's chance of hosting the 2012 Olympics hit another snag today with a Government report saying Paris has a better chance of winning the right to host the games.
A report by the Ministry of Culture, Media and Sport said London's chances have suffered because of problems over major projects such as Wembley Stadium.
A plan to build a new Wembley was recently released, after several years of delays and infighting, and the Picketts Lock athletics stadium plans were ditched after a series of problems.
The Observer said analysis by senior figures within the Ministry concluded there were "structural weaknesses" to London's bid that put it at serious disadvantage to Paris, believed to be the frontrunner.
The Government is due to announce its decision about backing or rejecting a bid from London to host the games.
Reports have claimed senior figures with the Government are sceptical about the chances of winning over the International Olympic Committee.
Many figures in sport, politics and public life have already called for a strong, united effort to put London forward.
