England pair Michael Owen and Paul Scholes will both return to training on Thursday after undergoing further treatment for their injuries.

Owen is still feeling the groin injury which forced him out of Saturday's World Cup second-round win over Denmark while Scholes has been resting a foot problem.

England are flying out to Shizuoka ahead of Friday's quarter-final clash with Brazil and the pair will both rejoin the rest of the squad's preparations on Thursday.

Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves is already back in training with Sven-Goran Eriksson's side after making a good recovery from a shin injury.

Football Association director of communications Paul Newman told BBC Radio Five Live: "They have been intensively treated with massage and hydrotherapy and both will train on Thursday at the stadium venue, which has to be positive news."
