FOR the first time the government has included Value Added in its league tables for secondary schools.

Value Added brings an extra dimension to the raw results which do not indicate whether the grades are better or worse than expected. A school could be coasting along but no-one be any the wiser. For years Buckinghamshire heads have said there is more to examination results than passes.

Value Added measures the level attained by a child at one stage and compares it with the levels achieved at GCSE.

A mark above 100 means that children are performing above expectations. Top of the Value Added table in the local area is the private Pipers Corner School in Great Kingshill with 104. Other schools achieving more than 100 are: Chalfonts Community College (100.3) upper; Chesham Park Community College (100.8) upper; Cressex Community School, High Wycombe, (100,2) upper; Dr Challoner's High School, Little Chalfont (102.4) grammar; Holmer Green Upper (100.1); Princes Risborough School, (101) upper; The Royal Grammar, High Wycombe (101.1); St Bernard's Catholic School, High Wycombe (101.1) upper; Sir William Ramsay School, Hazlemere (101.4) upper; Wycombe High School, High Wycombe (100.5) grammar. Value Added information was not available for three independent schools.
