Outwood 207 for 9 Flimwell 53 Outwood first XI had a resounding 154-run win at Flimwell on Saturday and moved into top spot in the Kent Village League.

Captain Neal Stevens won the toss and led from the front again on a difficult wicket, adding 70 with Cass.

But he was out three overs later for an aggressive 61 out of the first 90.

It was Taylor who made the initial breakthrough for Flimwell. He and Atkin made acceleration difficult.

Barnes went on to make 41 but Hammond, Caulfield, Milton and Isaac all made double figures without being able to reach 20.

Wickets fell regularly during the last 12 overs and Outwood finished on 207 for nine.

Flimwell’s reply began disastrously with John Kershaw striking on the second ball of the innings. They slumped to 16 for five, as five of their top six batsmen were dismissed for ducks by Kershaw and Cass.

Only opener Matthews and number-seven Rigby made double figures, as Garrett and Milton completed Flimwell’s dismissal for just 53 after 23 overs.
