Our streets are indeed filthy and litter-strewn. Sweepers rarely visit, and when they do, are totally inadequate.
Russell Park, in Woolwich Road, Palmar Gardens and other parks and open spaces in the borough are an absolute disgrace. Grass cutting is sporadic and appallingly done, shrubs and hedges go untrimmed and litter, glass bottles and graffiti abound.
Robberies, muggings and vandalism are daily events. The Broadway is a virtual no-go area in the evenings because of drunken louts.
Residential streets are clogged with cars parked by many Broadway employees avoiding car park charges.
Traffic fumes pollute the air -- yet planning permission is still given for more drinking establishments and retail units.
So, may I, through your page, urge my fellow concerned Bexleyheath residents to take the time to phone, fax or write to the council with their complaints (after all it's our money they're spending).
Then maybe we can bring about a change for the better.
Perhaps then we will once again be able to say we are proud to live in Bexleyheath.
