Orange has been refused permission to place masts, antennae and dishes for the transmission of mobile phone signals on a listed building in Battersea.
Wandsworth Council said the Grade II listed Gala Bingo Hall in St John's Hill was an "inappropriate" site.
A spokesman said English Heritage had backed the decision.
