Passengers on the number 60 bus experienced a ride from hell as they travelled from Croydon towards Mitcham recently.

According to one bus passenger the driver put lives in jeopardy as he followed his own agenda.

Pridjesh Pararajasekaram caught the 11.35pm Connex bus from London Road, Croydon, but said he realised from the start there was something wrong.

He said the driver of the bus would not give him a normal ticket but insisted on issuing an emergency one instead.

Mr Pararajasekaram said the journey home was terrifying.

He explained the bus was driven at high speeds, through red lights and past people waiting while passengers pleaded with the driver to stop. He said the driver did not follow the normal route, down Galpins Road, but went towards Norbury, telling passengers that was what he had decided'.

Mr Pararajasekaram said: "He must have done 60mph past Thornton Heath roundabout and went through several red lights. I never want to get on a bus again, I swear to God. "He said he had complained to Transport for London (TfL) and tried to contact Connex, which had still not returned his call.

It is the second time in two weeks that Connex have had complaints from members of the public about route 60.

A Connex spokesman said: "We are taking this matter extremely seriously and have launched a thorough investigation. The first part of this investigation will be to review the bus CCTV footage and interview the driver."
