HIGH Wycombe cricketer Jamie Benning scored 60 runs for England in their three-wicket defeat against India in Tuesday's U19 one-day international.
Benning, on his one-day international debut, blasted 60 runs in 56 balls to help give England a solid platform in the match at Bristol.
His innings, which was England's second top score of the day, included three boundaries but it wasn't enough to put him on the winning side.
England reached 265 from their alotted 50 overs but in an exciting finish, India finally reached the victory target with the winning four with just five balls to spare.
Benning said: "It was disappointing to lose but I was pleased with my contribution."
Benning's innings was the perfect response to England's U19 selectors who left him out of the Test side after just one Test performance.
He said: "Hopefully I've answered some questions."
