LUCKY ducks are living in the lap of luxury in Wooburn, in a new duck house.

And now it is hoped that ducks from other areas, who may be in a flap about low quality houses, will flock to Farm Wood's mini mansion.

The duck house was built during work to transform Farm Wood by Wooburn Parish Council, using a Forestry Commission grant.

Bourne End councillor David Elsbury said: "Even the ducks have upmarket houses. It really must be the best duck house in the UK and we are hopeful that it will attract more ducks."

Benches, picnic tables, way markers, a new board walk and wildlife interpretation boards have been added to the area thanks to the grant.

A footpath has also been built for disabled visitors which leads from a gate on Broad Lane down to the pond.

Cllr Julia Langley said the council was very lucky to get the grant.

She said: "I have been told that they are very unlikely to give this £24k ever again as it was so oversubscribed."

A lump sum of £7,500 was given to the council with another £3,500 promised annually for the next five years.
