WITH reference to my snippet on Penfold Fencing Bowls Club.
If interested, here's another bit of useless information.
The North Watford Conservative Club, back in the 1950's had a three-rink bowling green, behind the Wells Brewery in St Albans Road. They had some very good players and some played for the county team.
Charles Frost, Frank Hewitt and Sid Hodgkiss got to the triples final in the county competitions.
Mr Arthur Humphries became president of the Watford and District Assocation. When Wells Brewery was sold to Hille Company, the club took over the Civil Service Green at Reads School, which is now a housing estate.
Not that it may interest you, but if you log onto rafbdhistory.co.uk you will find me in the Roll of Honour, listed as killed on October 29, 1945.
