HADDENHAM loses another shop on Monday when Michael and Connie Robins close the Paper Shop in Station Road. From Monday the business is being transferred to their shop at the station. Opening hours will be 6am to 6pm on weekdays and 6am to 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Customers will miss Connie's knowledgeable and friendly presence but are assured of good service from Mr Robins, their daughter Sarah (a law and economics graduate) and part-time help from daughter Elizabeth. Deliveries will continue as before. The couple bought the shop nearly 30 years ago after Mr Robins had worked in his parents' shop in Aylesbury since leaving school. They have been researching the history of the Haddenham shop and would like to hear from anyone with details of past owners and the nature of the business. They have served the village well and have been inundated with well-wishers.

THE Community Junior School held an open evening last week. While the netball and football teams battled it out on the playing fields and the recorder group entertained in the hall, families visited classrooms to see some of the terms' work. The Bucks Free press reading scheme was displayed and Year Six had a display of newspaper front pages devised by pupils. I was amazed at their expertise and must attend to my grammar and gathering of information if I am to keep this job! Well done!

Year Two pupils at St Mary's School wore bow ties or aprons for their annual coffee morning, serving refreshments to parents and friends. The pupils will decide on how the money they raised should be spent.
