THE winner of this year's Marlow Sports Personality of the Year will receive a new trophy. The current shield is full of past winner's names. The Town Council has also recommended that in future recipients will receive a smaller trophy, which will be engraved for them to keep.

FRIENDS of Bisham School are aiming to raise £4000 to replace the school's piano, which has passed its sell-by date and can no longer be tuned.

THE 39th Wycombe Arts Festival comes to an end Saturday, May 31 evening when the acclaimed American-born virtuoso, Carlo Curley, brings out the best from the Father Willis organ at All Saints Church, recognised as one of the best organs in Bucks, with an Organ Spectacular. The Wycombe Swan 01494 512000, Burgers at the Causeway 01628 4833890 and the Tourist Centre 01628 4835970 are selling tickets for the event, although they should also be available at the door. They cost £10 and there will be an opportunity to join Carlo Curley after the event at a champagne reception.

Friday, May 30 Raymond Isaacson gives the last lunchtime organ recital of the Festival. He will be playing the works of Bach, Mozart and Eugene Gigout from 1.10pm in the parish church. Admission is free.

THERE is an interesting exhibition at the Institute Road library next week. Marlow Camera Club will be putting some of the best work on display to complement poems by the Metroland Poetry Club. It is from Tuesday until Saturday.

MARLOW Bowls Club is holding an open morning on Sunday at their club in Pound Lane when aspiring bowlers of any age can try out lawn bowls for free. If you want to have a go do wear casual clothes and shoes without raised heels. The club has some vacancies for novice and more experienced players.

BURIAL Grounds of London is the title of Mr Grout's talk to Marlow Evening Townswomen's Guild on Wednesday evening. Newcomers are always welcome at the club's meetings, which take place on the first Wednesday of the month at 7.45pm at Liston Hall. The secretary is Yvonne Sargeant on 01628 483285.

FANCY a spot of twitching? Willow warblers, chiff chaffs, swallows, swifts and even the cuckoo are among the summer migrants Wycombe Rangers will be looking out for when they lead a walk around Little Marlow gravel pits Saturday, May 31. Spade Oak car park is the meeting point at 10am.

TIME is running out if you want to take advantage of the Marlow Showcase, being held in connection with the Town Regatta and Festival on June 14 and 15. Clubs, societies, charities and other non-commercial organisation are being offered space in Higginson Park over that weekend to promote their activities. Plenty of fun is guaranteed over the weekend for young and old alike. Teams are still needed for the Dragon Boat Racing taking place on the river on Sunday, June 15, between 10am and 4pm. Do drop in. The morning is set-aside for those who would like to do voluntary work but dont know where to start.

CONTINUING their busy programme at this time of the year, Four Season Club members take to the water on Tuesday when they enjoy a trip on the Thames, which includes lunch and tea. At 10.30am the following day they will be holding their regular club day at Liston Hall.

A SPEAKER from the United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel will address the congregation on Sunday at the 9.30am service at Bisham Church before going over to St John the Baptist Church in Little Marlow for the 11am service.

WORK continues on the refurbishment of the dryside changing rooms at Court Garden Leisure Centre. The changing rooms will be closed until the end of July but the artiste changing rooms, although not offering shower or locker facilities, can be used. The wetside changing rooms do offer shower and locker facilities and can be used as a temporary alternative but customers are warned that at peak times they can be very busy.

THE final spring meeting of the Booksmart Club takes place at the Institute Road library on Thursday. Bookworms aged between seven and 12 meet at the library to discuss their love of books and enjoy competitions and quizzes.

STRAW HATS have been requested by Mrs Maine to next week's meeting of the Little Marlow and Well End WI on Tuesday at 2pm.

THE Causeway will be the scene of the monthly Farmers' Market on Wednesday. Between 10.30am and 1.30pm there is the opportunity to pick up locally produced, seasonal meat, fruit and vegetables

THE first Tuesday of the month next week means that the pram service will be held at All Saints Church. It is at 11.15am and following the short service, babies and their minders can enjoy refreshments.

MR Martin is the speaker at next weeks PHAB get together at Court Garden. He will be telling the members about his Glass Workshop when the physically handicapped but able-bodied men and women meet at 8pm.

ENTRY forms can now be found at the Area Information office and other key outlets throughout the town for the Wycombe Half Marathon, being run on Sunday, July 13. Closing date for entries is June 25. This year the race has a new sponsor, the 24 hour health service DOCTORnow. Runners have a time limit of three hours for the marathon and the entry form asks the competitors their predicted time for the race.

INTERNET access is available at the Area Information Office in the High Street. Latest facilitity on offer is a fax, although a small charge will be made for its use.
