BRENTFORD FC chairman Ron Noades has labelled Hounslow Council a disgrace for failing to support them as they fight for survival (writes TONY FLOOD).

He stormed: "A meeting we requested with the Council two months ago was held on Thursday but neither the leader John Chatt or his deputy Colin Ellar attended and their two representatives said they are not prepared to ease any of the planning restrictions on our Griffin Park ground. It is an utter disgrace and I am fed up with the Council's lack of support.

"We will now submit an offer for Feltham Arenas which satisfies the condition that we relocate in the borough. Other than that the Council are forcing us to stay at Griffin Park until we go bust.

"Brentford are now in the same situation as Brighton were - staying at a ground until debts mount to the point they can't be met."

Noades added: "The Lionel Road scheme, which could now be complicated by a new plan to have a railway inter-change there, is so far into the future we will run out of money."

If Brentford get Feltham Arenas Noades believes it would cost them £1.5 million in the short term to make it suitable to stage Football League matches.

But he stressed: "We would first have to put in a planning application for a new stadium there. The Council have already pulled the rug on the site at Western International Market and they may pull the rug on our plans for Feltham Arenas as well."

Gary Hargraves, the Brentford managing director, added: "The Council have been a let down for as long as this club has been trying to relocate."

Brentford's option for a ground-share with Kingstonian runs out on March 1st but they won't be paying out another £60,000 to the Ryman League club. Noades said: "We are not likely to take up the option at the moment, although we might be prepared to negotiate new terms."
