A NAME is sought for the newTheatre by the Lake in Keswick and the trustees have appealed locally forimaginative suggestions.

Theatres are often named after royal orother patrons, famous actors, classical figures or even the shape of thebuilding itself.

The trustees of Cumbria Theatre Trust believeKeswickians might also be inspired by the location and localheritage.

However, the name Century Theatre can not be used as it isnow owned by Leicestershire Museums, following the handover of the BlueBox in 1996.

A public consultation will be launched this week andrun until Saturday November 28. Anyone who wants to put forward asuggestion can hand it in at the Keswick post office, the office of theKeswick Reminder or at the theatre's visitor centre at Lakeside.

Suggestions can also be sent to Cumbria Theatre Trust, Lakeside,Keswick CA12 5DJ.

The new name will be announced before the end ofthe year.
