I am writing in the hope that one of your readers will be able to help me trace what happened to the mother of a friend of mine.
My friend is 90 in November and asked if I would write on her behalf. She was born Winifred Olive Humm, the daughter of Ada Humm, on November 21, 1908 but was fostered when she was only a few weeks old so she never really knew her mother.
All she has is a beautiful portrait of her. Her mother became Ada Jackson when she married William Jackson and the last address we have is 42, Rossway, Eltham. Her mother would no longer be alive but was still living at this address in the 1950s.
I would like to issue an appeal to anyone who remembers Ada Jackson or knows where she is buried as Winifred would dearly love to visit her grave.
