"No more toys!" that's the message from East Surrey Hospital who have been flooded with toys and over £600 since they appealed to replace sick children's missing toys.

Staff at the hospital's A&E paedeatric ward appealed for more toys for the hospital's sick children after witnessing £250 pounds worth of toys gradually disappear from the children's area over the last six months.

This week, staff wanted to convey their thanks to all who gave toys and cash for sick children to play with.

Nursing sister Amy Dopson said: "I'm absolutely delighted by the response and am overwhelmed by the kindness of so many. I want to say a big thank you to everyone."

A spokesman for the hospital said: "We are now appealing for people to stop sending in toys. Many of the furry toys can't be used by children because they carry dust and infections. We have a list of the toys that went missing and although we didn't ask for cash, the money will more than pay for what went missing."

The spokesman added: "We can't put padlocks on the toys it just wouldn't be practical. The toys are for all the young patients to use.

"If a sick child gets attached to a toy and takes it home we would hope the parent would return it in a few days."
