A regular football tournament for Woodhatch teenagers has been hailed as a resounding success.
After the Woodhatch five-a-side team won the tournament against sides from Horley and Salfords last month another bigger event is being planned for May.
Woodhatch beat officer Chris Jeffs worked with beat officers in nearby areas and said the youngsters were 100 per cent enthusiastic about it.
PC Jeffs and beat officers from Horley and Salfords put together five-a-side teams of under 16s from their respective areas for the last tournament.
Woodhatch beat officer Chris Jeffs said: "It seemed the youngsters were slightly desperate for something or somebody to give up a bit of time to organise something for them.
"It was very simple for us to do and was just a matter of tapping into our own contacts and putting a bit of effort."
The teams used a ground in Horley last time where there is also a basketball court which may be used alongside the football pitch for the next event.
PC Jeffs added: "It's really quite important that we do follow it up either with another football tournament or something else."
