WHILE most 16 year olds were sweating over their GCSE results, former Watford Grammar schoolboy David Munson knows his future is secure with the British Army.

David has been accepted into the Army Technical Foundation College in Arborfield where he will take his first steps to becoming an Avionics Technician with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.

He formally enlisted into the Army on Wednesday at the Tower of London, along with 45 new recruits as part of a mass enlistment.

Explaining his decision to pursue military, rather than civilian further education, David said: "I wanted a practical approach to learning, which is what the Army Technical Foundation College offers. Plus, the Army gives me the chance to travel, meet new people, and secure a job in the trade I enjoy.

"What's more, if I want to continue with my studies, I don't have to face the problem of student debt as the Army helps pay for my education."

David sat seven GCSE subjects this year including history, Religious Studies, German, English, Design and Technology, Maths and Science.
