Mayor of Hertsmere Stuart Nagler visited Elstree's new residential home Sunrise Assisted Living recently.

Mr Nagler and his wife Ros were given a tour of the new home, and were impressed with what they saw: "It's an amazing place the standard of care and and comfort is incredible. It was interesting talking to the residents.

"Although there are a lot of expensive trappings around, what came through was the quality of care provided.

"We were very well received. For those who can afford it, it is a lovely way to live."

Mayor of Elstree and Borehamwood Ernie Butler also visited the home, and talked with residents and staff.

The home, in Edgwarebury Lane, features 58 one and two-bedroom suites and is owned by an American company.

General manager Ken Waterhouse rescheduled Mr Nagler's visit after he had been unable to attend the home's opening in February, due to a snowstorm. "We are certainly keen to be part of the community, so it has been great to meet the Mayor and other councillors."
