The Sidcup teenager who went missing in London four weeks ago, has been found dead.

The body of Douglas Kirk, 18, from Clarence Crescent, Sidcup, was discovered by a member of the public last Friday lunchtime.

He was found behind an office building at 43 Pall Mall, not far from where he was seen for the last time on February 16.

Police were called to the scene and, at first, his death was being treated as suspicious.

A postmortem examinsation was carried out at Horseferry Road over the weekend, but proved inconclusive. Further toxicology tests are now being done to try and establish the cause of death.

Douglas, a student at Orpington College, disappeared after a night out with friends on February 15. A former pupil at Cleeve Park School, he had been drinking with his mates in the Denim Bar in Covent Garden.

He was last seen in the early hours walking towards the Trafalgar Square area. He was seen twice again in the Trafalgar Square/Charing Cross area on CCTV.

Douglas, who worked part time at the Horse and Groom pub, in Main Road, Sidcup, lived with his father Jack and eldest brother Gordon. His mother died nine years ago.

His elder brother Alex, 24, said the family were "absolutely devastated" by news of his death.

Douglas's brothers and friends had launched a huge email campaign across London to try to find him and had been all over the capital with flyers and posters advertising his disappearance.

The family have tried to contact Douglas for days after his disappearance, calling his mobile phone, which went unanswered until the battery ran out.

"He would have got in touch if he was able to," Alex said.

On Monday, Alex told News Shopper: "It is tragic. We have been told he was seen again on CCTV very near to where he was found.

"We understand the police are not now treating his death as suspicious unless the tests show that he was given something.

"He was just out getting drunk, like teenagers do.

"Now we are trying to come to terms with his death and to get on with organising his funeral."

Police are still piecing together Douglas's movements. If you think you may have seen him in the Charing Cross/Trafalgar Square area on February 16, call Bexleyheath police station on 020 8301 1212.
