A NEW state-of-the-art scanner has been installed at Queen Mary's Hospital.
The computerised axial tomography (CT) scanner, which will scan patients suffering from head injuries, strokes and cancer, is four times faster than the hospital's current scanner.
The new scanner is the second of its kind in the country and has been funded by the Government to improve scanning facilities at the hospital.
A Queen Mary's Hospital spokesman said the scanner was a "huge leap in technology".
She said: "We are delighted to have the new scanner. It supplies us with significantly-improved detail and will enable us to give a far more accurate diagnosis."
