A SINGLE parent, who decided to take a risk and use credit cards that she had found, landed a court appearance.
When Kelly Peak, aged 19, of Edwin House, Peckham, tried to use a cheque and guarantee card in Next, Bromley High Street, to buy some clothes, staff were alerted.
The teenager is on state benefits and has to support a 20-month-old baby daughter. When she found the cards in a telephone box in the High Street, she took them and bought something with them Bromley magistrates heard.
But staff started running checks when they felt Peak was acting suspiciously. She left the store, but was caught by police moments later.
Peak pleaded guilty to trying to obtain £63.96 worth of goods by deception.
Magistrates gave Peak a conditional discharge for 12 months and asked for a contribution of £50 towards costs.
