WILMINGTON AXSTANE PROBUS CLUB

The Club's Annual General Meeting commenced with a short period of silence and remembrance for its Founder Chairman and oldest member Arthur Robinson who died early in January. In its first year Arthur led the Club with dedication, dignity and enthusiasm and subsequently worked hard in many ways for the improvement and development of the Club. Arthur was also a popular and active resident at Southdown where he leaves many friends The thoughts of many go out to his wife Ida and his family. Arthur requested no flowers but

in lieu donations to the Club's nominated charities and £900 has been received to be divided between Demelza House and Electronic Aids for the Blind.

The meeting received reports on the year's activities. Treasurer Ernie Waghorn gave details of the very favourable financial position and pointed out that the Club continued its strong support to charities with a total amount of £1375 being donated to five charities.

In his report on next year's activities, Secretary Bryan Knight mentioned that he was in correspondence with Dartford Council regarding nominating a volunteer young person for the

Mayor's Award.

The Club elected Officers and Committee members for the next year with the Chairman Les Dixson and John Strachan the Vice Chairman. Founder Member and Doyen of the Club, Jack Harding, was honoured with Honorary Membership. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to retiring Chairman Jimmy Winterflood and he thanked the Club for a very enjoyable year. Jimmy then invested new Chairman, Les Dixson with the Club's Jewel.
