It has been another successful week for pothole patching in the district.

The county council has managed to seal up Stonnards Hill, Epping after I highlighted it last month.

Sadly the council was over its 28-day minimum for non-urgent holes but they got there in the end.

This week’s tour of the dstrict’s tarmac led me to a duo of dangerous dents.

There is deep damage in Nicholl Road, Epping, where I could have submerged my whole foot had I stepped into the rut.

Thanks to Simon Jones for reporting that one on Twitter.

Simon, 37, lives in the adjoining Amesbury Road and said: “I reported it to the council two months ago and they fixed it, but now it’s back a month later.

“The cars are all parked on one side of the road so you have to go into it or go up onto the pavement.

“I know it’s there but if it’s dark and you don’t see it you could easily go into it.”

A crafty crater has also appeared in Coopersale Lane, Theydon Garnon, which is barely visible when filled with water.

That was reported via the pothole hotline 01992 572 285 by Hilary Mosley of Habbs Cross Road.

Hilary said: “There have been potholes up and down there for the last few years.

“What the council usually do is bung the hole full of quick setting tarmac that just pops out in the winter.

“It’s like Joseph’s coat of many colour’s but with blobs of tarmac everywhere.”
