A STAR of ITV's Britain's Got Talent switched on Christmas lights in Barkingside last night.

Jonathan Antoine, 17, minus his singer partner Charlotte Jaconelli, 17, entertained crowds after switching on the lights in High Street.

His appearance was kept secret until the last minute due to fears over crowd control.

The classical singer came sixth in the series earlier this year and was paired with Charlotte while they were studying at West Hatch High School in High Road, Chigwell.

The event was organised by the Barkingside Traders Association.

I beg to differ JONATHAN AND CHARLOTTE did not come 6th like your article says, in fact they were 2nd. Jonathan is a fantastic singer and a lovely guy who is so kind to all his many fans, I being one of the many. Its fantastic that he switched on the Christmas lights, I wish I could have been there xxx
