Taxi caught alight on Waterworks Corner, South Woodford

A TAXI burst into flames on a roundabout.

The black cab was put out by firefighters at around 6pm last night at Waterworks Corner in South Woodford.

One fire engine from Leytonstone attended at 5.40pm.

The driver of the taxi escaped with no injuries and was taken home by police.

The slip road from the A406 to the A104 was closed for several hours.

The vehicle was removed from the scene and the road reopened at 8.20pm.

The cause of the fire is not known and the police are not treating the fire as suspicious.
