Drug dealer gets jail sentence

AN UNEMPLOYED man has been sentenced to more than two years behind bars for helping to sell cocaine.

Richard Wiltshire, 34, from Alders Avenue in Woodford Green, is one of seven men jailed for a total of 29 years after police raids uncovered £250,000 worth of cocaine and an assault weapon at addresses in east London back in May.

Wiltshire pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of the Class A drug at Basildon Crown Court in August and was sentenced yesterday (Friday).

Six other men from Romford, Brentwood and Barking were also jailed.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Smith said: "We have seen a number of high-end drug dealers taken out of circulation and put behind bars for a long time. This will not only do them the world of good as they contemplate their crimes, but will also improve the quality of life for residents living in east London and west Essex.

“This was a dangerous group when their drugs and weapons are taken into consideration. We will continue to target those criminals operating at the high end of the chain and who affect the lives of the law-abiding residents of Essex.

“Today should reinforce the message that we will act upon information which can eradicate criminals from communities.”

If only that were true.

The sad fact is that all prison does nowadays is give criminals a nice breeding ground to meet other criminals they can collaborate with when they get out and teach them new illegal skills.
