Council to review Funky Mojoe licence

East London and West Essex Guardian Series: Council to review Funky Mojoe licence Council to review Funky Mojoe licence

Redbridge Council has announced it will review the premises licence for Funky Mojoe in High Road, South Woodford.

A council spokeswoman said the review follows a series of incidents and complaints near the venue over a period of time.

The announcement comes less than a week after a mass brawl involving as many as 40 people erupted in the early hours of the morning outside the bar.

Owners of the venue were formally notified of the decision today.

The Council’s Head of Community Protection and Enforcement will request that the licensing sub-committee review the licence.

This could include revoking the licence or reducing its hours so that the venue must close earlier.

Hopefully this will be the Death Knell wake up call for this excuse of a 'Champagne Cocktail Moluccas and Sambucas Oyster and Mussell, Jelly Eel Nightclub (no lashes of gravees')

Never in the History of 'Woodford Then and Now' (Book available at the Village Bookshop) has a Licensed Establishment locally caused so much upset from residents, especially those who live in the former Ford Garage opposite (cannot recall what it is name now).

These premises opened in a Fanfare of Publicity a little while back have been in the news for the wrong reasons.

We have had shootings, stabbings, vicious assaults with glasses including the actress who was on big brother who dated Edward Teddy Sherringham who was a Miss World contestant but got the elbow as Teddy had been courting her and failed to declare the same whilst he judged the competition or something like that.

The Stalwart Councillor Hoskins and IDS at times have tried in vain to close the place down despite the attempts by the owners of the club to have an open day and invite the elderly residents into the premises and offer them refreshments to pacify them.

Cones are put out at the weekend, yellow and bright as though the club has special status.

We have had reports of serious events in Kebab Shop next door, unwarranted demands for more chilli sauces and meat without justification. Do we need this Mojo in the area? (as Clegg would ask a question that he wanted to be asked anyhow) I say no we do not?

The Mojo is the menace and it should be a traditional pub like Wetherspoon.

Excellent news. Now Redbridge Council, review it properly, bearing in mind you represent everybody living in the area and have a responsibility to do what's best for them.
