A police officer who made 100 arrests in the space of a year was honoured at an awards ceremony for Redbridge police on Tuesday.

Pc Estella Dooley began an incredible year of crime fighting on January 5, 2011 when she arrested a suspect for assault.

The tireless cop went on to make a string of arrests for offences including burglary, criminal damage, drugs and the possession of offensive weapons.

Pc Dooley’s arrest total was made all the more impressive by the fact that she spent two months of the year stuck behind a desk after her finger was broken during an assault by a suspect.

She was commended at the ceremony in Fencepiece Road, Barkingside which was attended by Borough Commander Sue Williams and the Mayor of Redbridge, Muhammed Javed.

Other officers honoured at the ceremony included Detective Sergeant Brett Hagen who led a team of officers who helped catch a man who assaulted Malaysian student Mohammed Asyraf Raziq Rossli during the 2011 riots.

Several officers who were injured in the line of duty also received awards, including two who were hurt while restraining a mentally ill woman armed with a pair of scissors.
