Igor Bekaert owner of Belgique in Cambridge Park, Wanstead bans pushchairs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for health and safety reasons

A café owner has banned pushchairs for health and safety reasons.

Belgique boss Igor Bekaert says he can no longer allow pushchairs in his cafe in Cambridge Park, Wanstead on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

He said: “Ann (his wife) and I love the kids at Belgique, hence the baby changing facilities and high chairs.

“But the pushchairs keep getting bigger and bolder and every single passageway gets clogged up.

“It has become a serious, dangerous problem.”

All pushchairs will now have to be left outside Belgique on the days concerned.

Mr Bekaert says he is looking into installing a storage area at the side of the premises.

He is already in dispute with Redbridge council over the construction of a sheltered terrace which he built without planning permission.

Quite right too!

People use to leave everything outside these cafes even the Baby!

These days they come in with screaming babies who have been woken up from a nice sleep to be dragged down the cafe so that their lazy mums can mix with other similar mums sitting around drinking gallons of coffee while their hard working husbands are slaving at work.

Older kids ride scooters and even bikes around and the elderly are forced to negotiate their way in and out and one dare not say anything to the mums or one receives a tirade of abuse. In Tesco's at times you can hardly hear anything other than screaming kids and babies crying.

Then they leave everything from dirty tissues, and even nappies for the staff to clear up and the place ends up like a bomb has hit it.

They should be banned full stop. babies are supposed to be at home in their cot not dragged around from cafe to cafe all day long.

You really are the most rude and Obnoxious person ever, it really is time for WF Guardian to take action to stop you using this forum to post your bitter and twisted views which are not only offensive but in many cases totally untrue, views which are based clearly on your inability to be able to read, digest, and comment without stooping to unacceptable levels of abuse you seem to enjoy
