A man believed to be the world’s oldest marathon runner has run his last competitive race.

Fauja Singh, 101, from Ilford, recorded a time of one hour, 32 minutes and 28 seconds at the Hong Kong 10km event.

The 100-year-old has been running for 12 years, since the deaths of his wife and son.

He became the world’s oldest full marathon runner in 2011 after finishing the Toronto marathon after turning 100.

But Guiness World Records did not recognise the feat because he could not produce a birth certificate.

He then ran his first London marathon and went on to compete in a further eight marathons.

He has said he will miss running in competitive races but would run again for charity if asked.

If the Guiness Book of records do not believe it why should anyone else?

I think it is a load of poppycock as well.

Like the so called 100 year old who 'worked' for a well known plumbers. He turned out to be a fake as well.

Why must you believe the worst of everyone?

This amazing gentleman was born a good century ago in another country. It's hardly surprising that e can't produce a birth certificate.

You believe anything no doubt.

I was sceptical about the man called Buster who a well known Plumbing Firm employed (supposed to be 100-good advertising) and that turned out to be a load of codswollop as this dubious tale is even more ridiculous.

Even the Guiness Book Records were not having it. how does he know he is a 101 years old?

I have a magic lantern in my cellar if you are interested, can do it cheap for you?
