Schools from Wanstead and Woodford will represent Redbridge in the London Mini Games this summer.

Primary schools from across the borough competed against each other in a host of sports attended by 1,500 children yesterday.

Bancroft’s School from Woodford Green won the hockey and netball events, while Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School from Wanstead enjoyed success in Tri-Golf.

They will go on to the London mini-games at Crystal Palace in July where they will compete against schools from across the capital.

Nightingale school in South Woodford will represent the borough in tag rugby.

Other schools to enjoy success yesterday included Christchurch School from Ilford who won the six-a-side football, Redbridge Primary School who won the Boccia, and Fairlop Primary who finished first in athletics.

Overall winners on the day were St Aubyn’s School from Woodford Green who placed in the top 10 for every event.

Unfortunately they did not win any of those events and will not go to the summer games.

Nightingale Primary School won a Fair Play award for their outstanding sportsmanship during the day’s events.
