An area of High Street, Wanstead has been taped off by police amid rumours of a stabbing.

The area outside the Nam An restaurant is currently behind police tape and two PCSOs are on the scene.

They would not comment, but a worker at the George pub next door, who would only give her name as Kasia, said police had spoken to her about the incident this morning.

She said: “Apparently someone got stabbed last night.

“The person is still in hospital so hopefully they are not too badly hurt.

“I wasn’t working last night and none of my managers have left me any message so I’m not sure what time it happened.”

Sunny Hussain, who works at BBQ Express on the other side of the road, said: "When I came in this morning there were some people outside saying there had been a fight over there."

The Guardian is awaiting a comment from the police.

A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said she was unable to find any record of an incident.

Nobody was available at the Nam An restaurant to comment.
