A 44-year-old man has undergone surgery after being stabbed in the street.
The incident happened outside Dai Viet restaurant, formerly known as Nam An, at 175 High Street, Wanstead, at about 5.30am this morning.
The area remains taped off. A PCSO at the scene said CID officers were inside the restaurant, which remains closed.
Detective Inspector John Delaney, from Redbridge police, said: "A 44-year-old man has been stabbed. His injuries are not life-threatening.
"The information we have is that he was outside at roughly 5.30am. He has been taken to a hospital and underwent surgery. We are investigating and appealing for witnesses."
