Police are appealing for information after a man was approached from behind and hit on the back of the head in a social club's toilet.

The 62-year-old was attacked at Fords Sports and Social Club in Aldborough Road South, Newbury Park.

It happened at 8.55pm on Friday May 24 - but Redbridge Police has only launched its appeal for witnesses today, nearly a month-and-a-half later.

A Met spokesman said the attacker approached from behind, struck the man and then made off.

The victim had to be taken to hospital to be treated for a facial injury following the attack.

Police have released an e-fit of their suspect, who is described as an Asian man aged between 35 and 40.

He had a short black crew-cut hair style and was wearing black trousers and a dark top.

A Met spokesman said: "Police ask that the public view the E-Fit of the suspect and anyone who knows the identity or whereabouts of the suspect should contact Detective Constable Ryan Hunter at Redbridge CID on 020 8345 2762 or anonymously at Crimestoppers on 0800 55 111".
