A school has named a charity for terminally ill children as its official charity for the year.

King Solomon High School, Forest Road, Ilford, held a special assembly yesterday to announce they have chosen to raise money for charity Hopes and Dreams with events organised by pupils themselves.

Students will form charity committees to decide the best way to raise money for the charity.
Deputy Mayor Cllr Tania Solomon and Cllr Felicity Banks were in attendance for the event with the charity also being the Mayor’s official charity for the year.

The charity helps terminally or critically ill children to realise their dreams, which in the past has involved meeting a celebrity or swimming with dolphins.

Hopes and Dreams chairwoman, Ruth Salahi, said: “I am so pleased the school has decided to support Hopes and Dreams.

“Part of the reason the school chose us is because all of the money raised goes on the dreams and not on anyone’s wages as we are a voluntary charity – it is a cause close to my heart.”
