A mother whose two children were born prematurely is to run the London Marathon for a baby care charity.
Sangeeta Adams, 46, of Marion Grove in Woodford Green, is determined to give something back after son Nathaniel and daughter Tamara were both cared for at the special care baby unit at Whipps Cross University Hospital in Leytonstone.
Nathanial was born seven weeks early in January 2002 and spent five weeks in the unit, while Tamara arrived 11 weeks early in April 2006 and spent ten weeks being cared for.
Mrs Adams will raise money for the charity Bliss by taking part in the race on April 13.
She said: “Our experience of the time our babies spent in the special care baby unit will always be in my memory.
“That’s why I’ve chosen to run my first ever marathon for Bliss, I feel like it’s the least I can do.
“I also thought everyone at Whipps Cross were brilliant. The stuff they do is amazing and they don’t get the credit they deserve.
“Despite what people say about Whipps Cross, they were great and all the staff are doing is trying their best.”
